If you are buying a new home in Ontario, your now have better protection.  The Ontario New Home Warranty Program now offers protection to buyers of new homes against loss of deposits of up to $40,000.00 should the sale of their home not be completed through no fault of their own.  This applies if your Agreement of Purchase and Sale was signed after February 1, 2003.  If you Agreement was signed before that date, you are covered for up to $20,000.00.  Condominium purchasers are protected up to $20,000.00 because they already have excess deposit insurance through the Condominium Act.
